Travel to our Retreat in Cabuya, Costa Rica

Costa Rica Retreat travel info;
When we first thought to travel to Costa Rica, we had many questions, but after several years, we have found it to be a beautiful trip that can be done comfortably and easily. From the US., Costa Rica is about 2 1/2 hours airtime from Miami, Fl. From NY, it is about 4 and 1/2 hours (and so on). The flights are often very reasonable and can be direct, depending upon where you are flying from. A passport is needed.
The best airport to fly in to is the San Jose airport. When you arrive, there are several choices for travel to Nicoya Penninsula/Cabuya. One option that is available to our guests is a special travel package that is easy and very nice. There are now also flights into Liberia Costa Rica. Ask us about travel options from Liberia!
This is the transport package with our local shuttle service. You can either do only transportation for $50/person or hotel and transportation for around $85 per person (a bit less if two are staying in the same room), this service includes transportation from the airport to a hotel in Alajuela (5 minutes from the airport), a night at the hotel (cute clean rooms), breakfast in the morning,…then they will take you to the ferry in their air-conditioned van and put you on the ferry. The drive to the ferry takes about 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours, depending upon traffic. The ferry ride is about an hour and the trip from the ferry to Cabuya is another hour. The van tends to be early to the ferry in order to avoid any possible delays (about an hour) At the other side, their other van will pick you up and drive you right to the retreat in Cabuya. If you are using the transport van only, they will pick you up at the airport (or hotel of your choice in the airport area) depending upon the time of year, at either around 6am or 8am or at 2 or 2:30pm for $50/person and take you to retreat center.
We can help you to arrange this package if you are interested, simply contact us and we will send you the reservation form.
Other options:
-You can book a mini-flight on Sansa air (small jets) or Nature air that takes about 25 minutes to get to the Nicoya peninsula. It ranges from $50-$130 per person. The terminal is connected to the San Jose airport. Both of these airlines land in Tambor, next to a rental car company. At that point, you can either cab (we can arrange that pick-up, it is about $45) out to the retreat (about 35) minutes, take a bus (check the local bus schedules online-or ask us) or rent a car to complete the trip to Cabuya.
-You can also rent a car near the San Jose airport and drive to Puntarenas to catch the ferry. The drive is about 1 hour. The Ferry will take you across the peninsula for about $25/per car and $2 per person. The ferry ride is about one hour. The Ferry lets you out at Paquera. The drive from Paquera to the retreat center is about one hour. We really enjoy the drive…to Puntarenas there are beautiful mountain and valley views most of the way, the drive from Paquera to Cabuya is also lovely countryside, hills and jungle flowers. The ferry is comfortable, great views and has indoor air conditioned seating and outdoor seating. There is some food and beverage available on the ferry.
- There are inexpensive bus options, but they can be pretty complicated if you don’t know your way around and/or do not speak fluent Spanish. If you are interested in these options, contact us. -You can also take a bus from the 7-10 station in San Jose (which is a 30 minute cab ride from the airport) all of the way to Montezuma (4 miles from Cabuya), then take a cab from Montezuma to Cabuya. You can check those schedules online. The bus ticket is about $12 per person and the bus goes over the ferry.
